I’ve been following you since the Cata beta and really enjoyed your commentary on the whole sundering and whatnot. I’m a casual WoW player…super causal, honestly…and when I first heard about MoP I was (obviously) casually excited; you know, like, “Oh man, what have we got here? Kung Fu Pandas? Interesting.” So what was the first thing I did? Check to see what the Cynical Brit had to say about it. Not that you are the end all be all for my opinion on gaming but I really take what you have to say into consideration. It’s like checking a movie review before dropping bills on a ticket.

Here’s the thing, and despite the intense amount of negative flack you’re catching on the interweb, I must defend your honor by stating that there quite a few of us out there that really do respect your opinion. For you to NOT cover a game (or expansion) such as this leaves us with little else to do but rely on the wisdom of the endless herds of angsty, jaded, voice-cracking, adolescence that will attempt to become the Cynical (Insert nationality). I’m thirty, man. It’s not in my programming to get all hyped about some form of media when a reviewer boasts something as “super schweet.”

Yeah, I suppose I’m being selfish. And I absolutely understand your disinterest in it. But we listen to you because you’re cynical, you say the things the casual gamer may be thinking but hasn’t really taken into consideration when determining whether or not a product is for us. Without you we are trusting nothing more than the brand itself, and sometimes the brand may falter in it’s effort. You are a pro at determining function, mechanics, style, and most importantly, playability. Thus, it’s proficient reviewers, such as yourself, that help to keep the brand on it’s toes (or so I like to think).

I’m just saying, that because you now own the market; why not continue to dominate it? There’s elements involved MoP that are not strictly about pandas or karate and s**t. I play an orc shaman, I’m for sure not crunch any numbers on the new talent trees, or spell-casting, nor will I go spend cash on a cheaters–er, gamer’s “guide”…I’m gonna go trust that damn Cynical Brit because I know he’ll tell me more or less which direction I need to point my wyvern to pwn some baddies, or if I even need to fly to Pandaria at all.

Anyway, thanks for all the work you put into your site. If you cover MoP, cool. If not, I suppose I’ll just troll around until I find somebody that that gets the job done. But I’d rather it just be you.

I, along with previous posters, commend the job the mods and other support staff do shifting through the thousands of emails and messages each day. I work in the hospitality/guest services industry so I relate to how exhausting it can actually be. As a fan, I know how easy it is to give into the temptation to ask TB to play so and so game with me, but I stop myself with the realization that if TB answers my personal request then he would have to answer everybody’s personal request which is pretty much impractical (I’m an optimist, nothing is ever impossible). The best we the fans can do is participate when and where we can such as the Mailbox and the newly announced Showcraft series as well as interact with each other within the community by posting on the forums, playing games with each other, and chatting during shows.

Finally, a word about “selling out”. To be a sell out, one must continue doing an activity for financial gain even though that person now finds that he or she has come to hate and loathe the said activity. It is not selling out when one moves on to something different or makes changes to a business model in order to grow the business and pursue new opportunities. This is why I find a certain professional gamer’s arguement about TB jumping to the Starcraft2 scene to be asinine.

In conclusion, TB is doing a fantastic job producing content. I especially enjoyed the Hyper WTF is. . . Dungeon Defenders which led me to playing a very fun game. I appreciate the staff for being honest and maintaining a community for the fanbase to enjoy. To everyone else as always I say be excellent to eachother.

I think it’s pretty disgusting on CB&Co,, to be honest. If subscribers were money, TB would be a CEO. Spreading the wealth around helps everyone, especially when you don’t have to spend anything to spread it around.

League of Legends uses a DirectX based engine which is software developed by Microsoft to support the creation of video games on the PC and Xbox. The Mac client was probably running a OpenGL based graphic engine (This is what Valve did with the Source engine for instances.) which is a different programming language and probably wasn’t optimized to the same extent as the DirectX version (Which accounts for the Mac Client inferior performance when compared to the PC engine. You could test this by running the game on OSX and Windows on the same computer.) With the Shiny Update the Mac Client will effectively have to be written entirely to support the new graphic system that Shiny using. As such discontinuing what was a working product was probably seen as necessary to push the newer graphic update.

Oh and very informative interviews btw.

Next up, the com menu is gone. That might not sound like a big deal, but actually that increased my team play immensly! As the phrases were predefined and the menu was set up in a logical way, people really used it, communication actually worked and sometimes quite amazing conversations went on:

It was the com menu that allowed for raids of five heavies in a transporter unloaded over the enemy base… Try that in any Battlefield! I doubt that voice chat will work the same way, as most people will deactivate it after some teenage kid offends everybody verbally the first time… (I’m looking at you, Call of Duty!)

A pity there wasn’t anything about deployable defenses in the video. I actually loved to spike up the defenses around the generator in Katabatic and watch my opponents fail in my turret-infested minefield… Oh Tribes 2, how i miss you…

I have bought games solely based on ‘WTF is’ without looking at other impressions first.

Usually this is because there is something in the gameplay or theme that grabs me and it stands to reason that’s maintained all the way through. However if a game looks interesting to me but you slam it I’ll look to other sources to see if it’s slow to start off and gets better later on. Unfortunately the track record would tend to agree with your outcome.

I think it’s safe to say I personally haven’t been dissuaded from a game I was planning to buy by a ‘WTF is’. Dino D-Day and APOX for example I didn’t have an interest in before, the latter I’d never heard of, so you didn’t cause them to lose a sale through me but I am but 1 person, not your entire viewer base.

I feel that “WTF is” actually has more value to it than some reviews because of the unbroken gameplay of it giving you a flow of the game rather than cherry picking the best and worst moments to show.

I trust your opinion to be your true opinion and I very rarely find myself disagreeing with it, I value it even where evidence isn’t given because of the trust I’ve built up over the years based on experience rather than that of your “position”.

I hope you’ll post a lot more TOR related stuff in the future!

That looks awsome, thats a game i would like to beta test. Looks so good and i like the idea of the political system, but more the system regarding perma-death and the oppirtunity to actually help others who are victimised. The Crafting in the game looks good, and i like the idea that “monsters” will be out in the woods from the towns and not random spawned outside Townhall iex when towns get built.

I remember reading that Blizz said the RM AH would be locked by region, but that doesn’t solve much of an issue at all. If I do actually get the game I’m not going to touch the RM AH. Paying real money for a virtual item seems silly and destroys the point of the game, even though I despise RNG.

second for the $5000 issue as i see it you can work around it. firstly the limit is strictly for the prize pool itself not the money you pay the player’s just for showing up. in the starcraft invitational 2 you payed each player $100 for showing up plus the prizes for the top 4 places. in blizzard’s agreement it say’s you are responsible for all fee’s. in legal terms paying someone to show up is a fee you pay to put on said tournament. and not applicable to the $5000 prize pool cap as it is not under any circumstance considered a prize but a fee.

i suggest you bring this fact up with blizzard before you decide any thing as i am not a bar approved lawyer. if it does not work out now it may make/help blizzard make changes to there contract for future tournament’s. as this format of paying every player help’s grow the e sports scene immensely as it help’s cut down on players having to choose a day job over there pro carreer which might not pay them anything.

also again great event can’t wait till the next 1 or even your next ladder stream. and i hope the next 1 goes even better if that’s possible.

Addressing your nit-picking of the tourney (You learnt and improved so much from SCI 1 it really is more spit and polish rather than elbow grease required now).

All the suggestions for ensuring the revenue streams to keep the Tourney community funded, seem solid and in-keeping with no corporate ties etc. One thing I do worry about is the fan v game though and the envitable griping you’ll get if you dont stream on a certain day, I’d think it would be easier to set 1 evening aside each week (aka d9 mono’s) and do a stream around that, possibly including 2v2, 4v4 etc.

Technical issue from the hardware/software and the goddamn interweb are something you cant help and imo you (Biscuit Crew) did a great job getting around, over and sidestepping them, which for a outfit as ‘compact’ as yours was amazing, so ignore the naysayers, noone complains that it’s the LTA’s fault when it rains at Wimbledon!

Day 1, Tbh didn’t notice the small audio problem, probably because the games and the casting was sooooooo frickin’ good. In my most humble opinion they were the best 3 sets back to back I’ve had the privilege watch (NASL, IPL, MLG, Dreamhack included) and I think in part that was because of the Bo5 format, so please dont change that in order to get more sets played in Day1, to reuse the tennis analogy all the Grand Slams use Bo5 for a reason, whilst the regular tour doesn’t.

Day 2, Technical issues aside (which you handled as well as you could be expected to), I think you nailed it down when u said casting fatigue had set in, it was noticable towards the end, however it was/is 100% understandable and I’m sure the vast majority of viewers couldnt fault you for it, haters gonna hate no matter what and you’ve identified it so I’m sure it’ll get fixed just like you did with the problems from SCI 1.

Casting, Though I consider myself a TB and you did a great job with SCI 1, the addition of dApollo in hindsight seems a no-brainer, the chemistry is obviously there, the balance between you was good and will I’m sure only improve with practice, so I’m happy to ignore the small issues that arose after what was 12 hours of casting and the untimely technically issues. Props for bringing in Vequeth too, not only did his addition smooth the tourney running, it obviously help take the pressure off you and it was noticable both in and between games.

Positivity, Have to agree with you here, the vast majority of people have been nothing but positive about the whole event, just check any forum, you should take a moment to bask in the praise of the community and perhaps especially in the congratulations of your peers (Day9, djWHEAT etc).

Things to note, JTV, not your fault I known, but day1 I watched in 720p all day no problems, but by the time of the bronze and finals, I was down to 240p to watch without stutter and chat was reporting others like me too. For the record I’m in Deepeest Darkest Devon, but was still not topping out my connection and got a better ‘connection’ watching via TL front page than did directly from JTV page, as events such as yours grow, sites like JTV need to be prodded to keep up with viewer expectations, so I mention it here, so that you can add it to your report about the /commercial breakdown, I assume that they make revenue from the streams too, so it’s important they are aware and respond to these issues.

The $5000 limit thing is a pain and is perhaps something you could approach Blizzard with in 1 or 2 ways. Firstly perhaps approach some of the tourney organisers to propose a rasing of the limit as I’m sure a year ago even Blizz didnt expect the competative scene to have exploded as it has. Or secondly see if Blizzard would provide a work aound for what is effectively a not for profit event. You’ve probably thought of both, but just in case.

Things to add, The addition of a webcam might be fun, I know the emphasis is on the players (as it should be), but I think between sets could stand a bit of ooomphing up, great as the overlays are they do become monotonous after 2 solid days.

How about a best plays video, such as Morrow’s amazing defence of Select’s bunker rush or DDE’s clutch bunker in his natural because he was definately expanding and not rushing marines, just 2 examples of many. Maybe put it up in thread so that people can vote on play of the tournament and award a prize to the winning player. Would be a great way to promote the next SCI and reward innotive/great play. You could even name it the SaSe award as I think his donating his prize money to charity was baller.

In a similiar vain, though perhaps without a prize or vote, would be a ‘bloppers’ video, a couple come to mind, dApollo’s inability to pronounce DDE and mentioning no names, but how many drones can you get in one gas.

That’s all I got, except to say that I think the greatest compliment I can pay you and the crew is just to say I cant wait for SCI 3

People complaining about the “premature gg” should just find something better to do with their lives. Complain about your neighbour’s front lawn grass being longer than an inch or that the birds are too loud. If TB doesn’t want to announce a gg before the player actually surrendered out of principle, fine. But people actually complaining about that? Get on with your lives, please. Most of the times when you think “Yep, that’s a gg”, it will actually be a gg. But sometimes there is a spark of insanity and the player who just had everything destroyed by bombs and goo (yes, some sort of baneling nuke) will get on top of the game again. An example of this is MorroW vs SelecT. My god, how could select keep going like that? In my opinion, the gg when the infesters crawled near his economy didn’t necessarily mean the end, but he surrendered anyway, which is a bit of a shame because morrow didn’t have a whole lot to play with either. But then again, what do I know about starcraft.

Right, what was I saying. Oh yes, TB, you did an amazing job and couldn’t have done it any better. It’s the first e-sports tournament I’ve watched (besides from the youtube uploads you did occasionally) and I’m glad I watched it live. I don’t even play SC2.

One thing that isn’t really a bad thing but it is something that should be taken into account for any further tournaments, is that it was very long. Day 1: The length was absolutely perfectly fine (the delayed match on top of this would’ve been a bit too much). Day 2: It was a bit too long. Don’t get me wrong, it was still great but when the DDE vs Socke started, it was accompanied by a sense of “oh god I’ve been sitting here for 7 hours and there is still at least 2 hours to go” It would’ve been a lot more pleasant if the eyes of the dedicated viewer weren’t so strained from watching the whole thing. But then again, this is my opinion and shouldn’t really be taken into consideration because if I think it was too long, there probably is someone who thinks it should’ve gone on for at least 5 more hours.

In any case, you did a great job and couldn’t have done it any better.

Secondly on lost respect, it’s more or less respect is lost *for me* not because of a few comment, here or there, but for comments that actually reflect what someone believes, despite how they try to act different. There are values that I’d not want to be around and personal views of others I”d admit are very sickening to me, even if most of the world is honestly W/E about it.
– I am a bit racist, willing to admit it, but I’ll never let that stop me from being perfectly civil and even apologizing for a slip of the tongue, and doing what I can to not say what I was thinking, because they aren’t who I think they are, and I know that despite my feelings.

That being a rather … tricky issue, because it is partly Valves fault honestly. Yes they didn’t promise anything, but they purposely let rumors spread without posting an official notice that had more clear and honest truth towards it. They did use/abuse the hype and used that to promote/sell (even aid) the indie game companies. [I am all for supporting good game makers, though some methods are (to be fair) slightly, or close to dishonest with the gamers] I agree that ‘entitled’ gamers can be very harmful to the market, but truth be said about the market, it abuses those same gamers and baits them. I do think that there are bigger threats towards Gaming, and PC gaming, but that’s for some other thing.
–The only entitled gamers that I honestly feel ruin gaming, and harm it more then players and foolhardy people, are the entitled gamers who feel because they ‘bought’ the game they can act how ever they want in multi-player, because it’s fun for them and only end up in destroyiong games, creating bad environments to even be social in, and in some extremes ruining the balance of the game because they happen to exploit things and cause the company to patch things that did not need patching.
-=-= Though, I’ve yet to find honestly a game where it’s PVP (and had it’s own built-in VOIP) where slurs and degrating insults weren’t some of the most common speach on the VOIP. I know it’s trash talk, but honestly … Trash talking a CPU is pointless, and it releases frustration or boosts egos (which is a bad sign) Though, when you start doing that to other players, I’ve .. seriously got to wonder is ‘entitled gamers {about purchases} really the bigger threat. The games will still be bought, and played, but with gamers making Multi-Player unpleasant to even be in, it can ruin communities and bring short lives to games, that didn’t deserve to be shot down.

I also think your WTF videos are much more effective if the viewer is already familiar with your videos and your style. The first time I came across one of your vids I was searching youtube for a game I was currently playing and enjoying. When I saw your video titled “WTF is xxxxxxxxxxxx” my impression from the title alone was that you would be bashing the game. It took about 3-4 minutes of me watching to realize you were simply giving a first impressions video, and my mood lightened. After that point I was able to actually see your criticisms as justified first impressions. Just something to think about because most people on the internet won’t even give you those 3-4 minutes before they start commenting back at you.

Yes, the subscribers are pretty much the guys who make it possible for him to do what he does, but, to my knowledge, he has never said that he would do what people wanted, if they subscribed. He’s repeatedly said that if you like his stuff you can subscribe, otherwise, get lost (not in those words, obviously).

If TB starts catering to the masses (which I doubt will happen any time soon), I’ll unsubscribe. That would be the only thing that would scare me away. That or Call of Duty vids…

Now, you may own your own show, and host tournaments, but, as far as your opinion goes, it does seem to be about the same as any average gamer’s would. You have your like, your dislikes. You might end up figuring it out already in part 6 or 7, but to make a bed your spawn point you need to make sure all the basic things a home needs are met. Walls, back walls, a certain amount of space, etc. Then it should work.

Not saying tanking should be easy but rather that the mechincs of the boss should be challenging not the keeping aoe threat up to the boss on every single trash pull challenging followed by a stand still and hit boss fight…

I did tank on my druid thro wrath and cata raiding, cata heroics I healed as tanking them was too much hassle by far with trigger happy dps and waiting on cds just to get good threat on a trash pack. I am currently loving tanking again at least in 5 mans in rift on my cleric. If someone pulls aggro i aoe heal and wait for the mob to swiftly run back to me… nice… I have to dance on bosses and dont have a nightmare job with trash. My question is, do u think blizzards move to make tanking hard for aoe in response to lackluster bosses that they were planning to make in the 5 mans, stonecore being the only dungeon i think that had good bosses throughout, and grim batol also being a better quality than the rest for bosses but horrendous for trash

You are correct though, people do seem to have an issue with objective thinking. I may not like a video game or a piece of art or a song, but I can see the objective value and craftsmanship that might have been put into it.

There is no progression path in raiding the way Blizzard is currently designing content – it’s either old, or new. If it’s old, you’re better off running 5-mans to get geared out to do “current” content, even if the “current” content is just one raid dungeon that you will then be running for another 6 months. Each time they do this, they’re nerfing 5-mans by providing higher ilvl gear with which to do them. How can you be okay with the only challenging content in the game to be the current raid dungeon and that’s it? That’s like saying you only want to play Plants vs Zombies on the first 2 levels, but with corn cob cannons. Sure, it’s fun the first time, but it sucks EVERY other time after that.

You can magically make liquids disappear by placing blocks over them. If you fill an entire pool with blocks, it would be essentially gone, you can test it by digging where the pool used to be.

Making a highway to hell is easy. You start by digging near the surface at the closest available place for spawning for convenience. Afterward, you dig straight down as you did as I saw in one of your videos, but you also have to continue digging down that hole. Often enough, you will find water, which isn’t a problem; dig to the side 3 blocks so you can fit in, and then dig 3 or more blocks deeper, for a 3×4 crevice. If you dig up to blocks after that, you’ll find that you’ll have a pocket of air. Just make sure there is at least one block blocking the water between the pocket and your highway.

Worms aren’t that big of a problem. If you just continue digging, or using your pickax in order to kill them, it should be fine. The reason this is is because you don’t have to click many times in order to swing your weapon, the worm has a low amount of hit points, and the pickax is the best non-weapon/tool to attack things with.

If you dig deep enough, you’d eventually reach the Underworld; I don’t advise going down there. It’s hard. Nintendo hard.

Mud can be used to extend blue mushroom growth locations.

Gold isn’t as valuable as you might think it is.

I un-subbed a little while ago. It wasn’t based on the current death throw of nerfs to content that felt at a good enough pace for the majority of the player base, ie the normals. Nor was it the ridiculous step up for hard modes. Which btw felt like Blizzrd saying, ok u said wotlk was too easy here’s something to make you cry your tears of a nuub and rage quit at wiping on v+t wipe 1 million.

It never felt blizzard was our friend, but b4 it felt like a community for which they were a part of, the game now feels like mass produced tripe of “dont stand in the fire” “move from aoe” “dps harder” be more overgeared.

I kinda got this feeling when cataclysm launched. I played a resto druid and it felt like bliz took a big nail and a little hammer to the approach to healing. Yes i had no mana, yes my heals wern’t good enough with a tank who had 110k hp (start of xpac heroicing gearing tanks) and yes it was hard. I learnt my class better than I ever had to before. But it wasnt fun or interesting. the mechanics felt like this boss we give this, that boss we give that. nothing felt like good artistry of the boss, who they actually was. I remember it took multiple runs off hoo to actually remember all the encounters cause only the 1st one was any good at all.

I became increasingly impatient with others who couldn’t do the easy stuff, no just pugs but my own guildies who i had lovingly nursed through all of wotlk content with I found myself just saying, find another guild, I don’t need to look after you for this stuff. I used to love boosting peeps who were under competent because it made it a little more of a challenge.

It got to the point I unsubbed, unfortuantly i had not long before paid my 6 months subs but bleh, I had guild quit and mothballed my toons.

I started to play rift, and yeash the questing is bleh. Grinding xp is dull, and I did find it hard to get going, I always hated levelling in wow and rift didn’t bring anything new to this experience. My first tingle of excitement was in DM a normal dungeon cant remember the lvl but it was tough. We wiped a few times on trash. and a bunch of times on the last boss. Now in wow. rage quitting qqing etc would happen but in this dungeon it did not. We finesed, and improved our tactics. focused on tasks. and killed a boss at 20 something that required more skill than many of wows raid bosses.

This experience in this dungeon has been the experience i have continued to have for some time in rift and tho I am on an under populated server, the thought of unsubbing wouldn’t occur to me. I was queuing 1 morning and decided while I was waiting for the lfm to pop to log in wow for the first time in ages. I fancied seeing in they had improved the encounters in the 2 recycled dungeons from when i had done them in ptr. 2 dungeons 5 tanks and 6 dps later I decided that was missing nothing and uninstalled wow off my system.

Now I haven’t raided in rift yet. There doesn’t seem the rush. I do miss the larger group experience but there has been plenty to do without either raiding or completing mind numbing dailies. And it hasn’t felt like I have had to grind in the same way i did with wow. I took baby steps in both learning and gearing. making content feel always fresh and challenging.

2 major content patches later and I feel I can already trust trion to care more about the player than I ever did from blizzard in playing wow for 4 years.. I have been and was a major wow fiend. costing me my marriage and many lost social occasions, raiding when i could 6 nights a week.

In rift I dont feel a need to min max my toon to the 8th limit. If i dont log on for a night I dont have a pang of missing out on this or that boss. Instead i find I enjoy my time online a lot more but don’t feel I am missing out when I dont log on.

The player base alone makes me feel like this is a game to enjoy and the number of interesting bosses remind me of what I liked in wow in TBC. Not to say all bosses are excellent, or jaw dropping difficult. they just aren’t but it feels like a game for fun.

I hope you find your home again in an mmo. not saying you should pick rift only that it was the right choice for me. and that I share the frustration you have felt with the game for some time and that even tho i have stopped playing wow, I have still enjoyed your content greatly.

I listen to your archives while i work on my own website and that comment made me double take, I know it’s an old episode but I feel I should point out the story that clearly isn’t there in TBC (and forgive me if I miss bits, I never levelled a Horde toon through outland)

The Dark Portal opened after ten years of inactivity.

The Blood Elves were rejected by the alliance for their dependance upon magic and so they allied themselves with the horde.

The Draenei crashed on Azeroth after searching for a new world after being forced from Draenor by the orcs and the burning legion.

The Draenei were accepted into the alliance after they ingratiated themselves with the Night Elven people.

The Amani trolls, who already hated the Alliance races, felt betrayed by the Horde after they accepted the Blood Elves amongst their ranks and openly declared war upon them.

The Alliance forces and the Cenarion Circle pushed into the outland, the Circle renamed itself the Cenarion Expedition and travelled to Zangermarsh where they quickly found themselves in the middle of a Naga plot while the Alliance remained in Hellfire with the Horde to prevent the legion from breaking through the portal and into Azeroth once more.

Many heros thought killed when the Dark Portal closed ten years earlier were found to be alive and still fighting back the legion.

The Draenei made tentative attempts to reconnect with their cursed bretheren, the Broken, who once served the legion and are struggling to find a new path.

Thrall travelled to Nagrand where he met his people who had stayed behind rather than invade Azeroth and saw for the first time the scale of all that was taken from his people by the legion.

The Goblins made outposts in the outlands in order to see what profit could be made, The Consortium encountered the Horde and Alliance for the first time and were finally able to get the upper hand over their rivals, and the Horde and Alliance forces travelled to Shattrath and met those the Draenei revere, the ancient and powerful Naaru.

From Shattrath a successful push into Quel’Danas was made and kael’thas Sunstrider was slain before he could summon the new leader of the legion into Azeroth.

Once that threat was dealt with the Alliance and Horde forces turned their attention to the Tempest Keep and finally toward the Black temple, where Illidan had made his new home after imprisoning the pit lord Magtheridon.

Both Magtheridon and Illidan were finally slain and the Horde and Alliance left the Outland with the Broken finally having a new home where they could begin to rebuild.

But, yeah, no story progression whatsoever… -_-

My sentiments are echoed perfectly in this podcast. As a guy playing games for nearly 30 years and someone who would like to consider themselves a reasonable person, the knee-jerk outrage exhibited by vocal gamers drives me to despair.

I played WoW long before TB came along and I’ll be playing WoW long after TB quits and continues to bash it more than he already does.

Don’t get me wrong I like his other videos like WTF is and SOME of the SC2 stuff I don’t really like SC2 and am not that good at it.

But the point is hes forgetting what he was subscribed too for.

I don’t see AZ Daily as a real “suffice” cause as I stated now he’s just doing things for views OBVIOUSLY.

“From the looks of it my WTF is my most popular series watched” That’s basically saying.

“I can get more money with more views and more subscribers if I keep putting out WTF is videos instead of WoW content”

It happens to every youtuber eventually they forget what they got popular FOR and end up going for the money.

Since that’s sorted out #2 falls short too, you feelings are fooling you. (better remove that gland surgically.. feelings are bad mkay?)

I know what you mean, but his WTF is? content is still pretty dang original. There’s plenty of review shows which are bad, because they are first impressions disguised as a review. TB shows what the game really is and how it plays, and that’s cool. He stated he’d never make a video just to get views, for example, Minecraft content when there’s others who have already done it, and their content would be better (Yogscast).

He’s just pumped out the 4.2 quest content videos. Azeroth Daily takes a lot of time to do, so I think Azeroth Weekly would certainly suffice. Plus, all the people who subscribed to TB just for WoW content (which would have been a while back) probably don’t care about WoW nowadays.

I feel it’s a sign that he’s selling out. Yes I understand every video he makes brings him the mula and I’m sure alot of it but he’s forgetting what he was subscribed too for as EVERY youtuber does.

He got subscribed too FOR WoW content and ever since cataclysm came out he’s forgotten that and has done alot less WoW content and is now just grasping for every cent he can grab.

Best way to use this would be to perhaps make a proxy stargate where he hopefully doesn’t see it and then us several cloaked ones to attack his mineral lines in hit and run type attacks.

1) Early reaper harass to hurt opponent economy by killing SCV’s (Hurting your terran opponents economy is going to be the best way to keep the lead)

2) Use tanks To secure the middle ground of the map. (This will help keep the enemy where you want them and more importantly NOT where you want them.)

3) Use reapers to attack one area of the enemy terran base to distract him and make him move his forces away to that location and then bring in the bulk of your forces in to do a heavy attack while he’s distracted.

Just thought I’d give a little aid for some ideas to think about if your doing more terran matches. Hope you can make it to high gold! Keep at it!

I’ve considering playing myself, though I will suck for quite awhile.

I will say this though, for you TB I will NOT play terran. Just in the very off chance we ever play.

I would like to say my view on the issue that you said about people doing arena while being bored of it so they do it for the epic gear.

I am a Battleground player, I enjoy doing the objectives and helping my team win. On the other hand I do not like arena cause I like large fights.

I go only unrated BGs cause rated BG requires more people than you can get without being in a PvP focused guild, and I love my current PvE guild where I got real life friends at and have policy against ill tempered players so we are all a happy bunch in there.

As if rated BGs do not already require a lot of people who are patient enough to stay until a battle happens there is also the problem of people making rated BG groups to require you to have higher quality PvP gear than that which you can earn from unrated content to be invited.

And even if I give up on getting in rated content the guys with best season gear and weapons will still come in unrated content and make life for the other team really harder. There is nothing worse in a PvP game than to lose against someone who played worse than you but beat you cause he had a lot more stats to his gear IMHO.

And so what is left for those who wish to improve their character for PvP? Since RBGs are having a night club doorman you will probably go make a 2vs2 team in arena and win few games every week for the weekly CP cap.
I been there and done that for like 5 weeks with a like minded player (who I never heard off again after he grinded his epic weapon) and I can say it felt more like a chore than fun though there were some intense moments sometimes.

there are several people like me who grinded arena just to be competitive in BGs and hated every moment of doing so.
I believe the very fact that you need to grind gear like that in a PvP environment in order to be competitive and have fun by winning in the said environment is flawed and as you said it is like a mac Donald’s job.

that is why I gave up on PvP in level 85 and do heroic 5 mans with objective to be a great damage dealer that does as much damage as possible without compromising his and the group’s chances of a successful kill.

this game thanks to the gear grind and differences fails at being really competitive apart from higher ratings where all got full best gear or at tournaments where all get free gear.

I would like to plunge into arena PVP and any help to stop the immediate bloodshed would be great.

Ulduar’s 3.1 patch may not have had much content added, but if you think about it, there was already a ton of story elements leading up to the raid that was added in the initial Wrath release – the iron dwarf story in Howling Fjord and the first signs of Yogg-Saron as early as Dragonblight, continuing through Grizzly Hills, some of Zul’drak and Icecrown, and most of Storm Peaks, including massive questlines and both dungeons – next to the Scourge and the Lich King, the Ulduar story was the most elaborate and overarching plotline in Wrath.

I hope Blizz plans to build up the next Old God as well as they did Yogg-Saron.

Don’t try to hid under “this a shockjock show” plz. Either you are lying out of your a- for past 5 years or you stand behind your opinions

And GOG.com didn’t lose anything from their stunt last year. A few days ago they published a state-of-affairs video on YouTube that included a graph of their earnings since the service entered beta a couple of years ago. That graphs shows GOG.com’s earnings skyrocketing after last year’s stunt. Their revenue nearly tripled and has stayed roughly that high ever since. So it was a brilliant move, if anything.

Speaking personally I didn’t buy the potato pack because I already owned over half of the games, I did buy a couple individually, had a ton of fun with some games I’d probably not bother giving a go otherwise, and a few games I hadn’t played for a while like Audiosurf and Aaaa!

I’d like to say I’m shocked by this outcry (from what is at a guess a very small but very vocal minority… as per usual), but I’m not, because seriously, when ever Valve does anything there’s a vocal minority that blow their tops, usually with very little to no justification, occasionally as in the case I feel with the L4D2 boycott with some valid points, but Valve are, ultimately, never really in the wrong.

If anything I think it just shows how deeply a lot of people care about Valve, what they do and what they stand for especially in the world of PC gaming, but people caring, especially gamers, is often a double edged sword. Still, give it a month and it’ll all be forgotten as usual.

On that note, I think I would be amazing to hear your views on the current state of polictics and the like. Or the state of gaming journalism. Both would be a fascinating listen to me.

It is satisfying hearing a rational discusion of the the reasons behind the wtf format other than through the medium of retalation at the dino d-day wtf.

As long as you as you keep you honesty on these things im hopefull a larger section of the gaming population will find these indi titles and become less focused on the big studios.

I have given up on reading youtube comments on your videos due to the obviouse lack of thought or post purchase rationalisation as you mentioned.

On a side note, during the blog there were moments where I had to think of that guy from THQ that said that the Metacritics rating of Homefront was way too low with 71 and that you can’t apply numbers to art and so on and so forth. I wish that some day, one of these big fishes wises up and says: “Thank you. Yes we screwed up. The game we brought out is not as good as we wanted it to be. Now what can we learn from this failure to improve on our next title?” But, I know from myself, denial is way easier than being honest to oneself, especially when it’s about something that you put time, effort and money into.

The voice filter is ok.. but still also not in tune with the nice new music nither.

Myself I dont play tanking spec anymore just because there is more challange in raids for that. And investing time in gathering gear and learning the abilities all over again (after cataclysm changes) for just runnning randoms with a PuG, when I cannot get a guild group together does not really worth it, in my humble opinion.

What can make me going back as a tank? Two possibilitites.
1) Healing will become what it was in back of Wrath. Then, as a druid you would enter a dungeon, buff up, cast rejuvenation on whole group, and go drink coffe, then come back to roll on loot in 15 minutes.
2) Tanking in raids would become something where you dont stand on one spot for ten minutes hitting 1,2,3,4 keys in hybernating sequence. What I mean by that, is that I am looking for changes, where tank would be as affected by a nessesety to move out of crap, as much as close as DPS, while keeping the boss stick to your butt.

As for adding tanking specs to DPS classes. I think that’s an amusing idea.
To the argument you have there, TB, that what if I played BM hunter as dps and now its a tank spec. well, look at druids, they have both dps and tanking roles in one spec. What would stop blizz to make an aspect that would be something similar to bear form.

We have seen how one talent tree can serve different purpouses. Why one talent tree shall only be for dps? Why one talent tree shall only be for pvp or pve?

And then for last. Tanking isnt something you just spec into once hit a top level. Good tanks are as good dps – they require to grow into their abilities through levels. Bad thing is, blizzard didnt design tanking specs for doing damage solo, or in small groups, for questing. What they shall do, in my opinion, is firstly look again at druids and see how they could reuse the idea of shapeshifting in other tanking specs.
Right now druids got the same gear for both dps and tanking specs, What differences cat from bear in raid is a few talents positioned differently. In my opinion, that if talents and tanking abilities could be differently utilized in, to say defencive and battle stances, that would allow tanks to get used to their roles very early and not to be scared of hopping into a group of mobs once they hit top level.

Tanking in raids is for the most time as you mentioned kind of dull. It can still be quite enjoyable though.

I would guess the lack of tanks for heroics is down to a mentality point of view. I started out as a dps player and making the switch from avoiding getting hit and not stealing aggro to doing the exact opposit was larger than you might think. I think you would make a great tank TB. Its remarkable how much it helps to passionatly hate the mobs you are going about to tank (or simply just project any handy frustrations you might have towards them).

In any case. You have to feel comfortable with the group you are with as you are basicly their mercy in your role as punching bag for mobs. If you dont it will just be stressful and filled with angst.

As far as the actual gameplay is concerned, it’s very well done and quite enjoyable, but not particularly memorable in any way. At the end of the day, it’s just another first person shooter in a sea of first person shooters. A very good one, to be sure, but it wasn’t the visual experience that the first one was.

I would like to see you all bugger off on holiday without the blasted computer lol! Sounds like you all need a decent break.

Now, I actually only just made this account here in order to echo what many others have already said. Don’t burn yourself out on doing these things, a large part of the greatness of TB’s videos are the personality that comes through in the videos. Why I’m a particular big fan of the live recordings

At the end of the day, you guys should enjoy what you’re doing, we enjoy what you’re doing after all – We all require breaks from our jobs, it’s why we got vacations.. Well that and some of us are a bunch of lazy monkeys watching YouTube videos

if you’ve never done any sort of video editing it is difficult to understand (and I am by no means talking as an informed expert here, I have never watched it being put together, but looking at it’s content and the way it is presented, the editing alone looks like it can take 2 or more hours to do. then you have the research involved to find and filter the blue posts picking the ones of most interest to present. then you have the more fun segments such as Machinimondays, know your lore, Achievement Hog etc all of which have to be filmed in game, edited down to only show the most relevant parts etc. (never mind the fact that segments like Achievement Hog can take a LONG time to do as thats the whole point of WoW achievements.. they aren’t supposed to be easy to obtain.

When TB says it takes 6 or more hours to put Az Daily together, yeah I DO doubt him sometimes. in my opinion it probably takes longer sometimes and shorter others but either way it is a LOT of work which TB doesn’t run from at all.

Life happens and sometimes it gets in the way. computer problems happen, YouTube spazzes out alarmingly regularly an y number of issues can cause some quite significant bumps in the road and I actually quite admire the fact that TB’s batting average on Az Daily is as high as it is. any lesser man would have probably thrown in the towel, or compromised the quality. TB has done NEITHER.

Therefore, I offer my humble services. if there are any minor things i am able to do to help the show and the people behind it, they need only ask (just don’t make me sing “Bright side of Life” again! the first time was bad enough and that was only ever intended to be something to lift your spirits dude lol)

Totalbiscuit and Co are producing something truly great and amazing here, and I feel that as the “perfectly sane and normal people” here. we should support them in any way we are able. I throw my hat into the ring and offer whatever I am able.

Keep up the excellent work guys.. there are a whole lot of us who really DO appreciate the things you do for us all.

Haters gotta hate TB, you’re one man and you’ve made a bold choice in firing off HQ videos, like AD, well, daily. The fact that you’re still doing the best you can, on top of the other entertaining videos, is not only astonishing, but something we should thank you for. Take a break, get rested, take care of your family. The base that’ll be waiting for your next video will still be here, I promise you that.

I believe I speak for most of us(esp since everyone posting here seems to think the same thing) that you got a well deserved rest ahead of you. Wish both of you luck and a good holiday.

Don’t work yourselves to exhaustion for little-old us, I follow TB’s casts for his laid back “genuinely enjoying this” attitude towards the games he’s playing/reviewing/casting/commenting on.

Seriously, I never, ever take the work you guys do for granted. I am thoroughly in awe of the amount of work you crank out. It’s apparent that TB gets seriously upset when he can’t meet his own productivity standards because of health or travel issues. He genuinely cares about the work he does, and he wants to make his fans happy.

While I miss seeing Azeroth Daily, good god, feel better! We’ll live, it’s important that you do too! Stop being workaholics for a few days and rest up!

For those who can’t stand not having a video every day (or multiple videos, which is usually what TB is putting out there), I hear there are some cool ones on YouTube of dogs wearing tutus.

BUT saying some youtubers dont post videos every day …..i just wanted to point out one very unique case of the CTFxC channel that has posted a video every day of around 10 mins in length for nearly 2 years now. Not hating or attacking you guys just didnt think it was 100% true what you said about youtubers not being able to get daily content up and there are 2 ppl that run that CTFxC channel and they manage it day in day out no matter what.

sure i will get attacked for “dissagreeing” on one minor point of the audio segmant but hey i thought it should be known that some ppl are doing it

Since the first day i heard about TB i thought he had a big team doing all the stuff because of all the projects / commentating / interviewing / community management / raiding / guild-leading / etc he does. Now that I know otherwise I’m even more impressed.

He is an awesome personality and I think that all who think so aswell should & would care about his health (as health is – i think – the most basic requirement for quality). If a reduce in quantity (number / frequency of stuff beeing posted) is required for a stable quality than it is only natural to be done this way

If some people want to be so ignorant and selfish as to unsubscribe because you’re unable to output videos for a few days due to illness then good riddance to them. (This reminds me of Penny Arcade’s GIFT – http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/3/19/)

Anyways, hope you’re feeling better soon and, imho, you should take as long as you need to before going back to work.

Hey, @Intricacy, would it possible to add an edit option for comments?

If I read that FB post correctly, he works about 12-14 hours a day. People should get about 8 hours of sleep per day. Whether this applies to him as well, is irrelevant. (And TMI for me to know since I’m just a random person on the interwebz. Anyway…) Were I to do the math right now, TB would have two to zero hours to himself every day (since he also said that he rarely is able to take Sundays off). That maths is…quite scary and it’s no wonder he has been sick more lately.

So, yeah, something should definitely change, but since I don’t actually know how the behind the scenes work goes…here’s to hoping that another viewer’s/listener’s support is enough for now. You guys are doing an awesome work and it somewhat saddens me that the “bad apples” are unable to see this sometimes. But hey, even if those bad apples get selected out, there are many-many other fresh and sweet ones still left and many-many more to still be added into the basket over time~

I rather a you guys being healthy and publishing less videos, than pushing yourselves to exhaustion. Your fans can cope with less videos, it won’t be hazardous to their health in any shape or form.

But also. I’ve selected 31 March as my birthday and it shows 30 March on my profile. Really don’t know how that happened, I double checked if I did something wrong but I’ve correctly selected the the 31st of March. So that’s kinda of weird!

I think the ‘gaming news’ section should be more a dedication for (small) indie games. Like for instance the ones TB talks about in WTF. ‘Cause the ‘big’ games get a lot of airplay and some great indie games get unnoticed.

And I have one request though . I’ve been listening in on Blue Plz! yesterday on your new site. And the only thing I missed was a mute button. Not that I want to mute TB it’s just not supergreat for my little brother to hear someone swearing to much . Not that I would mind, though! But there some situation a quick mute is handy. Not it’s that a big of a deal, or maybe I’ve missed the mute button.
